How on earth???  This type of thing was thoroughly debunked 30 years ago, and yet they continue to sell it.

This is my personal real-life experience with these system...
Back on Dec 2019 I installed a "calmat" electronic descaler system that I
purchased at The Home Depot for around CAD$284 including taxes. The unit is made in
Germany and it was the one with the best reviews at that time, the chinese-made ED2000
referred to below had pretty bad reviews.
Both my shack and the descaler are in the basement, shack by the rear wall,
descaler by the front wall. As soon as I finished installing it descaler I
scanned all the HF bands and found no beep nor birdies nor any RFI that I could
trace to the unit.
As for performance vs. a traditional water softener (several of which I have
owned in the past), it does work exactly as advertise. Over time it leaves a
whitish film on surfaces that is easily wiped out, I no longer have a heavy
mineral build-up in the kettle, dishwasher, coffee maker, sinks, etc. Also as
advertised, it took several weeks for me to realize the unit's effect, its
performance was no immediately noticeable right upon installing it.

In summary, considering the additional cost for a conventional water softener,
plus its installation cost (my house did not have one when I moved in and the
plumbing job would have been significant), plus the cost to run it I think I
made the right decision and I would not hesitate to go with this same unit
again.

In the link below, the unit I have is the one with two coils, the one with four
coils was not available back when I got mine in 2019 and I suspect is to deal
with harder water.

As with most things in life YMMV...

Have you ever used a hard water system like this?
iSpring-ED2000-Electronic-Descaler-Conditioner you can find it on amazon
if the link does not come through.

   amazon.com/iSpring-ED2000-Electronic-Descaler-Conditioner/dp/B0744TC3PW/

This is what I am wanting to use. It sends pulses through the water to
suspend the minerals, etc so it will not scale your pipes, etc.

I have lived with wells and water treatment systems since 1995, and have
never traced any RFI to them.  In that time, I had a WaterBoss (for 20
years) and a Whirlpool for the last 5+ years. Both were/are digital, so
far as the timer is concerned.  It's important to remember that they are
only really active during the recharge cycle - in the case of my current
Whirlpool, that's 2 hrs 45 minutes  every 3-4 days.

It sounds like you're being hustled - Both units I've had are
self-contained, and were both simple to install and trouble-free. The
biggest WaterBoss - for the hardest water - is only $505 and Home Depot
offers free shipping to your home.

I should have mentioned I was also given the option of just replacing
the tanks (softener and neutralizer) and valves, but I guess keeping
the mechanical control mechanism? Im new to well water treatment
systems so I’m not sure if there’s any disadvantage to the tank
replacement vs total system upgrade.

I emailed 4 companies and got almost nothing back.

One company would only say it complied with part 15.

I still have not bought one because of RFI questions.

We need a new water treatment system (we’re on well water) and all
the new systems are digital. Anyone experienced RFI from a new
system? Or just treat it like any electric device?
