I am currently using a Kenwood TS-940 for my contest station, would the purchase of a IC-765 be an upgrade or a laterial transfer. The ARRL reviews loved both radios but measured slightly better receiver dynamic range on the Icom.

I have both sitting at the operating position, hardly ever turn the 940 on. IC-765 is much easier to operate and feels much better. IC-765 is 10 years old now, no problems, and it has been driven hard, year after year, by serious contesters. The latest was SS CW Multiop.
