How can one have RFI on receive?   IS there another rig on in the same shack
or nearby repeater?  Or a broadcast station down the street?

The RF levels in the receiver would not affect the computer circuits!
Check issues such as use of poor noisy power supply, inadequate power leads.
Leads from supply to rig not twisted pair, etc.  Make sure connectors are
tight, lugs on power supply are tight etc.
