I think another problem is guys using K-3's with the speed cranked way up 
sound really choppy.

I know there is a setting for QRQ that makes it sound better.   Some 
stations sending really fast sound like a monkey on a bug :-)  73

Why not just give these sped demons some of their own medicine.  Crank up
your keyer speed to max and send your call 5x and see if they can copy.
