In November 2001 I put a Cushcraft A4S with a 40Meter kit on a 60ft. tower here in central Oklahoma. The antenna performed very well, however it did not survive the January ice storm. I am looking for suggestions for an antenna that is more capable of surviving the severe Oklahoma weather. I would appreciate hearing of any personal experiences anyone might have had with their antenna surviving a 1/2 inch of ice and 40 to 50 Mph winds.
Maybe I'm just dreaming, but I would like my next antenna to last more than 2 months.

I bought the first PRO-96-3 produced by Mosley. It has survived 140 mph winds and huge radial ice loads in Colorado. I reached DXCC Honor Roll Nr 1 with it in COLO and am about to get there again in Hawaii. My DXer/Contester neighbor was impressed enough to also install one.
Works great from 40 to 10 meters and you don't have to worry about it. Worth the price. Mine covers 28-28.7, and all of the 40/20/17/15/12 meter bands.
