You might check if there are actual rules, as in the US with the FAA, not just 
some local with his hand out.

I’ve been retired for 12 years, and don’t any new rules.

Here it’s( was) 200 feet and over and they had to be an approved type. 
Different blink pattern day/night.

The FAA did approve white LED’s. Got to change out red beacons and 25 year old 
control boxes, with motor flipping mercury switches.

Did mange to get one decommissioned when someone put up a taller tower 1/4 mile 
away.

Here, it still needs to have a blink pattern, not a Harbor Freight lantern, 
hanging from the plastic owl.
