Changing the battery is very simple as everyone says. The added steps I did was the following...

I also do work on PC's and other electronics that are static sensitive, here's the additional SAFETY steps I recommend...

1. Keep the rig grounded
2. Use an ANTI-Static mat to set the rig on
3. Use a WRIST grounding strap when you handle the circuit boards
4. Its very easy to remove the battery module
5. Just make sure the new module does not have any bent pins
6. I like to take time when I work on things like the Orion

It will save you a lot of money and shipping costs..

To all..

I finally had the memory backup battery fail on My Orion II. This battery lasted over 8 years. Thanks for all the info and help on this group.

I located a battery for about $9 plus shipping. Install was 1.2 hours and its working fine.

Thanks to all for all the info and help on this group.
