Hi Alan,
Great, and I was hoping you would dig out your DF gear. Make sure you are
out in the open when you do additional readings with the portable flag, and
make sure the peak and the null agree reasonably well. The peak is much
more robust in regards to not being altered by nearby objects (sometimes
you might notice a minor lobe off the back and that's an indication that
something nearby is coupling to it). I often just use the peak because my
S meter resolution on my DF gear is so good (1 to 1.5 dB resolution) which
makes using the peak effective, but I also check to see that the null is in
close agreement.
I wonder if you can hear the 7.195 MHz carrier during the middle of the day?
So far your 160 degree reading does not contradict my readings, and it
looks like your 160 degree reading points down in the direction of Pueblo
and then Model Colorado which fall within my reported zone. What's great
about your reading (if it repeats itself) is that it's not related to the
Alma incident from April of 2022 which I have been having a hard
time getting out of my mind.

P.S. skywave on 40 meters is a very difficult beast to DF (especially
depending on the time of day) as we know all too well from the April 2022
incident. As an example I once again gave up trying to use my tuned loop
early this morning as a secondary source of data as the skywave was
wrecking havoc with it (and I love my tuned loop for ground wave based
DFing due to its deep null so I'm not a hater of tuned or untuned loops).
