I don't do very many RTTY contests, so certainly don't represent the
majority of the digi-dudes you'll get replies from.

However, I think I may represent many of us in the Northern hemisphere
trying to chase the last few remaining nice days of 

fall  so I don't do many contests (of any type) at this time of year.

 

Especially where I live..we are so close to winter we can see it on the
horizon. (we've already had a few nights below freezing)

 

Today, I spent what few hours were barely light sweater weather  riding my
Motorcycle.  In a few days the season for that hobby will be over.

 

When it's below zero outside and snowing, contesting will get a LOT more of
my attention.

 

I doubt I am alone in this way of thinking, though the fellas south of me
have a longer season of it.

 

So, although the Makrothen folks may indeed do a poor job of promoting, even
if they weren't and bonafide free coupons for beer were to end up in my
mailbox if I entered this contest, I would still be outside enjoying the
last vestiges of temps above 0*C/32*F
