Comments:
Friday evening didn't bode well for this year's contest, but the weekend wasn't
too bad. Should have worked a little harder for multipliers but was having too
much fun with runs and pileups from Japan and California. Somehow missed Idaho
and Utah completely! European openings from Nebraska were good, but short-lived.
Had some trouble finding short distance 7th call area states. As has been the
case for the past couple of years, figuring out where to point the antenna was a
constant problem...lots of backscatter and other strange propagation, but that's
half the fun of 10 Meters! First year using a new radio...TS-890 pushing an
Elecraft KPA 1500 to about 800 Watts into an Optibeam OB16-3, logging on N1MM.
Not a single glitch this year thanks to some additional computer RF-shielding.
