Comments:
Thanks again to Frank Donovan, W3LPL, for letting Bob Teitel (W3IDT) and I
invade his basement for ARRL SS SSB. We split Frank's Multi-Multi station into
two halves. Frank has six desks - one each for 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 -
with two operating positions on each table. He has installed shower curtains
separating the positions. Bob sat on the right and I sat on the left.
Our goal was to maximize the score contribution from Frank's station for the
ARRL SS Club Competition. Together, we made 456,120 points (claimed) for the
Potomac Valley Radio Club.
We had to operate on different bands. Often, one band was significantly better
than any of the others. We kept swapping bands throughout the whole contest.
Bob did an excellent job - beating me handily! Congratulations, Bob.
40 was really only good for a few hours Saturday night. 80 was very noisy
Sunday evening. My hourly rates are attached below - you can easily see what
band(s) I was on when.
Thanks for all the QSOs and to VY1CO for calling me Sunday and giving me NT for
the sweep.
Thirteen of my last 15 sections were worked in 90 minutes on eighty meters!
