Worked as T5TC
|
Was in Mogadishu, Somalia and worked as T5TC.
My inner city location created havoc on 80
and 40m (9+40dB qrm) so mainly upper bands
activity. 10m was quite nice so changed entry
level from SO All band High to SOSB 10m High.
High was just 200w but anything over 100w is
High says the rules.
Using the Kenwood TS480HX with the 80-10m
windom just 8-8.5m above the terrace of a one
floor flat roof house, mainly contacts with
the EU stations. Sorry about you guys in NA
or JA but promise: I will return to T5 one
day with a SteppIR and 10+m mast :)
Altogether 680+qsos in the contest, 573 on
10m. Planning another prefix visit for the CQ
WW SSB. :) :) 73 de TA1HZ / T5TC

Missed it

Was out of town in Iowa for Easter weekend, so didn't get to play in the contest. Flew up there so didn't take a mobile setup with me and the weekend was pretty busy anyways. Hopefully next year! CU in the CW WPX next month.

Maybe it was the replacement antenna.
There seemed to be less noise on the bands this year than previously and I was able to make significantly more contacts. 80 was dead for most of the time and I have heard 10 more active. That said, 40, 20, and 15 were hot and low on noise; nice combination.
No big gun here, just a pea-shooter. Gap Titan Dx at 10 feet and a multiband dipole at 20 feet. Driven with a barefoot FT-950.
Could have done more if the operator and the station were a little more capable.
