Contesting Online Survey

Survey Question Current Survey Question

Do you plan to enter the CQ WW DX Contest?

Recent Surveys

Recently the RDXC committee reclassified P3F to high power from low power without publicly providing strong evidence that any infraction had occurred. They concluded was that the contestant was running HP on 80/40m but not full-time, just 10 minutes here and there without any convincing evidence. It appears they used the RBN as their source of information. Should the RXDC contest have to publicly provide convincing evidence before reclassifying a station from LP to HP?

Randy, K5ZD, wrote a sidebar titled " Convergence and Change" in the 2015 CQWW CW printed results in CQ magazine. He wrote that the "convergence of personal computers, Internet access, DX clusters, and CW Skimmer have changed the nature of CW contesting". He goes to say that it is "more difficult to police the line between the single operator working alone and those who are using the assistance of DX spotting." In light of this convergence and change is it time to recombine SO and SOA into a single category?

UCXLog
I use UCXLog by DL7UCX - Nice and simple program with som statistic

N3FJP / LOGic9
I use N3FJP for the contests as they have self contained ready to use packages that handle everything for the contest & submitting the results, and then I import the N3FJP log into my LOGic9 program for permanent records.

SD
I use SD, which is perfect for me.
Simple, no mouse, a lot of contests and a very useful user list.

I'm a "little" contester so I do not need networking or hyper sophisticated curves, the progress window is enough to keep me awake.

The super-check partial automated window is very valuable also.

Thanks a lot Paul.

CQPWIN
I use CQPWIN because I wrote it and thus derive a lot of satisfaction from its use. I try to win the highly-unofficial category in each contest of "highest score using his own software", hi. I usually win that category, but not when competing against Tree in Sprint....
When we operate Multis from Aruba, we've lately been using Win-Test, which has worked pretty well.

TR4W
Used TR4W for several years, and Rover Log for VHF Rover Conests.
Also I've done a paperlog to convert to Excel sometimes and fill in small logs to TR4W after a contest.

SD
I use SD because it supports Iota as well as VHF contests.

It also has excellent support from its author (EI5DI)who literally sorted things out for me to run it on my laptop virtually by return just hours before the start of the contest.

I have used Super Duper for many years. It is the most user friendly contest logger I have come across. I fail to see why you can't list it as an option in the survey when it is used by thousands of hams.

I have been using SD by EI5DI for a good many years now, only CW. It works UFB with Winkey and even with my old Windows 2000 computer.

Hands down ACLog suite of contesting modules are the best and easiest for contesting. Nothing to remember and very easy to use.

SD is No 1 in my mind.Great contesting logging program.Have never had a problem in many years of use

Logging Software.
Been very satisfied with SD for around 20 years. Performs what you need very efficiently and easily, no multiple keystrokes, just keep pressing 'enter', simple to get out of tangles. ideal for non technophobes - does what it says on the tin!
On occaision of bug problems there is a very active and attentive user group. I score it 10/10.

Used to use N1MM and still do for networked M/M
or M/2 contests but for single op I have
switched to SD. It's sleak, simple to use, easy
to set up and Paul's support is outstanding.
It does not require much RAM or CPU time so
works great with my six year old homebrew PC.

This is fast and easier than any other, with
less clutter. As with all software, parts are
not intuitive, but it's better than any other.

SD
I've been using SD for years; an excellent logging program for true "single operator" contesting. It's simple to use, intuitive and pretty bomb proof.

The author, Paul EI5DI, provides excelelnt support - fixes to the few bugs which do arise are generated very quickly

Alas Poor SD, I Knew You Well!
I am HARDLY computer-savvy, believe me...and so when I
learned of supposedly user-friendly EI5DI's "Super Dupe"
(SD), I approached it with caution---but came to
absolutely LOVE it!

Alas & alack, SD is NOT iMac / Apple computer friendly--
-and there is no version of the programme available that
is. This has prevented me from submitting ANY contest
logs in this past season's contests, and has repeatedly
compelled me to think about dumping this overt-priced
product of Steve Job's supposed vision & innovatipn, &
getting a much cheaper Microsoft Windows based
system...

THAT'S how much I like (and miss!) Super Dupe!

Posted by ve3cui on April 6, 2012

SD
Been using Super Duper for over 20 years and does just what it says on the tin! Minimum amount of keys strokes so us oldies don't get confused. Liked it so much, we even did a review for the RSGB mag, Radcom!

TR-LOG
I use TR-LOG beecause of the auto-CQ in CW and it is to me the best contest software around. I have used TR4W as it is like TR-LOG. TR-LOG is SS is a no-brainer.

N3FJP - N1MM
I use the N3FJP Software Suite unless I am operating SO2R. Then I use N1MM. I love that PSTROTATOR interfaces easily to both. The biggest plus of N3FJP is that it is easy to use, a stable product and does everything I need it to do, except SO2R. What is a plus for most, yet a big minus to me about N1MM is that it is constantly being updated. I don't like using software in a contest that I have not thoroughly tested. The worst time to find a bug is in the middle of contest. The release of N1MM I use for SO2R is thoroughly vetted and I love it. As I have time, I will check out later revisions. I would like to thank everyone that writes, updates and revises ham software. They truely deserve all our thanks!

N3FJP Software
I use N3FJP's contesting software. No
learning curve required, does what I need it
to do, and I can concentrate on the contest.

Logging Software
I enjoy using N1MM. It is almost a 'bullet proof" program. The software team always keep updating the program.

I use it for of my contesting needs.

I would like to see a "practice generator" incorporated within N1MM for RTTY and CW without utilizing another program to make it run. Just click and go.

TR4W
I used TR4W (http://tr4w.com/) which is jazzed of version of TRlog for windows. It only 160 kb in size and very fast. Works fine for SO2R.

The documentation is mostly in Russian but there is a group currently making an English version. However, most of the information in the TRlog manual is still valid (http://www.trlog.com/manual.shtml).

There is a English Google support group with a number of knowledgeable users that can provide help (http://groups.google.com/group/tr4w).
