I am pretty new to contesting and would like to know which band would most likely be the best for the West coast USA at 12:00 UTC for the up coming IARU HF World Championship Contest? Thanks, Will, AE6YB

40 meters. Even with just a dipole, you should be able to work lots of stuff in OC and Asia from the west coast.

Depends what you want to do. 40 at that poit will be getting short, meaning that if you beam W, there's only ocean. Beam E, there's only domestics. You might pick up a few straggling Q's from the Pacific, if they exist. 20 will work just fine, and be aware of openings on 15 and even 10 (worth checking anyway). Personally, I would start on 15, work every multiplier I can, check 10, then head to 20 and start the fun there. Good luck.
