Features of fixed focus lens

Among the lenses compatible with Micro Four Thirds, this time we will introduce a fixed focus lens.First of all, I will explain about the focal lens again.

Focal length does not change

A fixed focal length lens has a constant focal length. In other words, you cannot zoom in and shoot like a zoom lens.To change the distance to the subject, the cameraman must actually move. However, by shooting with a fixed focus lens, you will be able to remember the distance to the subject with your body, so you should be able to acquire basic shooting skills.

The angle of view does not change

The angle of view is the angle of view that appears in a photograph. With a zoom lens, the image is enlarged or reduced by zooming (manipulating the focal length), but since a fixed focus lens cannot zoom, the image is not enlarged or reduced.

Good image quality and bright

Compared to the structure of a zoom lens, the structure of a fixed focus lens is very simple. That amount,it is possible to pursue the image quality and brightness, reasonable while a high-performance lens is equipped.Above all, the brightness and bokeh are of a high standard. The brightness of the lens is indicated by the "F value", and the smaller the F value, the brighter the lens and the greater the blur.It is not uncommon for fixed focal length lenses to have the highest class F1.8 or lower.

Many small and lightweight models

Weight is a concern when carrying equipment or shooting for a long time.Fixed focus lenses are available in smaller and lighter models than zoom lenses. Also, because it is compactinsize, it will be useful as a lens that you can easily carry around.

Cheap price

Since the fixed focus lens has a simpler design than the zoom lens, the parts and material costs required for manufacturing are low, and the selling price is set reasonably.Models with a wide range of focal lengths such as35mm, 50mm, and 85mmare available, so you can enjoy the depth of the picture while changing the lens.

Focal length of a fixed focus lens

We mentioned that Micro Four Thirds reduces the length of one side of the sensor size to about half that of the full size, but keep in mind that the focal length ofthelens is also "half".In other words,if you want the same angle of view asafull-frame lens, you need to choose half the focal length with Micro Four Thirds. For example, if you want a full-frame equivalent of 50mm, choose 25mm for Micro Four Thirds lenses. This article mainly introduces three types of focal lengths.Choose the perfect focal length according to the distance to the subject, the shooting environment, and your shooting image. Check for more here.

Standard unit focal point 25mm/50mm equivalent (35mm conversion)

It is a lens with a focal length equivalent to 25 mm in Micro Four Thirds and 50 mm in 35 mm (full size) conversion.Itis said to be the closest tothenaked eye and is also popular with camera beginners. There is no doubt that it will be useful in a wide range of scenes, from street snapshots to portrait photography.

Wide-angle fixed focus lens / equivalent to about 5 to 17.5mm / 10mm to 35mm (35mm format equivalent)

A wide-angle fixed focus lens can capture a larger view than the naked eye.It is used when you want to take pictures with a three- dimensional effect such as nature, buildings, and landscapes. It will also be useful in situations such as group photography where you take a picture away from the subject. The weak point is that the image is easily distorted. However, there are also cameramen and photographers who dare to distort and take portraits that give a photogenic impression.Keep in mind that the smaller the number, the wider the landscape and the larger the image.

Telephoto fixed focal length lens / approx. 35mm ~ (35mm format equivalent)

A telephoto fixed focus lens that can shoot farther than a standard fixed focus lens. This lens is mainly used for shooting situations where it is difficult to get close to the subject, such aschildren'sathletic meet, sports, wild birds, and railroads. The larger the focal length number, the farther you can see.On the other hand, please note that the larger the focal length number, the longer and larger the lens, and the higher the selling price tends to be.
