This is my 34th consecutive entry in this contest since 1989. I also had
entries as a teenager in 1956 and 1958 when I was introduced into DX contesting
by my long time friend Phil, N0KE.

Condx were very good and that makes for a great contest. ...and all my antennas
still work! I now take off time to eat dinners with my incredibly tolerant
wife. She also largely cares for our 8 and 10 yr old grandsons who often must
come over on Friday evening and also over the weekend. Thank you Janet! At age
83 I have increased my sleep to 4 1/2 hrs on Friday nite and 5 hours on Saturday
nite.

My best Q was coming across FR8UA calling blank CQs on 15 on Sunday AM. One
call! Then there was 3W9A on 10 and 15. I was able to get D4C on 4 bands, 40
to 10. And I was delighted when W8KA, 308 miles away in AZ, heard my feeble 160
M signal for a double mult.

DXCC was 79 and WAZ was 29. My score was highest in the last 10 years.

This is the contest that I do the worst in of all the majors. That is because
it is the most famous and attracts the best operators with the best stations in
the world, ...and I just ain't one of those! But it is always exciting to wheel
my chair up to the operating position at 4 PM on Friday evening and know that
thousands of contestants around the entire globe are starting with me at the
same time.

CU next year! 73, ...Bill W8QZA - W6QU
