Somewhat happy, somewhat disappointed.

All my biggest thank you goes to the main guy Tonno (ES5TV). I couldn't have
even dreamed to a SO effort from his station.

The very first time when I visited this amazing contest station was a little
more than 10 years ago. I was almost 15 years old and that was WPX SSB back in
2013. After that visit I saw outside the box, and the box was our local little
radio club YL1XN. When I saw how the real contesting is done, I was amazed. I
didn't know if I will ever get back to this station. I'm a very competitive guy,
and when the autumn arrived, I started to write emails to Tonno asking if I
could come again. I saw the opportunity when I was a small kid and I just knew
if I'll blow it that’s it, that is why sticked to it. I was there again for
the WW SSB in 2013, and then again, and again, and again.

Now my time arrived to do a Single OP entry from here, I was a little nervous,
but happy. I came to the station two weeks before the contest to help with
different preparation works, and to see how's everything working. I have to say
that this station is complicated and without instructions you are completely
lost, of course I've been here a lot of times and I already know the main
things, but when Tonno is not a around it's different.

I arrived on Thursday evening to get a good rest before this marathon. On Friday
Tonno arrived to test and check the last things. I had a very beneficial nap
before the contest for about 3-4 hours, and that truly helped.

Contest started with a very lousy start, hard to find a frequency, I'm also not
that experienced SO2R guy, since I've done it just a few times from ES7GM, ES5TV
and YL2GD.
LY4A simply skyrocketed past me right from the beginning, and I knew that I'm
probably not catching him anymore, that was disappointing of course, but he's a
lot better operator, especially when it comes to an intense work with the 2nd
radio. Congrats Roli!

I enjoyed the online score race with Andrea IR2M (IK4VET), thanks for being
online. This time experience beat the youth. Congrats!

I've never been fan of unassisted category, jumping around the spots is easier
and more dynamic for me, but this was a great training.

My best hour was 259, and that is claimed second best from ES ever.

The propagation had its ups and downs, but 20,15,10 was a real fun. So many BY
and YB stations wow. On 20m West coast coming with big echo and aurora sounds,
of course the 15m H-Frame is doing magic again, and I was able to hear and work
a few NA station after the band was already dead silent.

Disappointed I'm because I knew I could've done a lot better than I did.
Hopefully I'll get another chance in the future.

For now, I'm left completely without a station, I really hope that starting from
next year I can finally start building something.

CU in the next ones.
