Comments:
The contest fell this year during the harvest in our area (AOC Sancerre). So I
had to prepare for the contest earlier and the mental preparation was a little
distracted by the work which required me 12 to 14 hours per day (including the
day before the contest) since september 13.
My goal was to achieve 4,820,000 points in 45 hours of activity and set a new
european record but I was a little afraid of fatigue... And indeed, I was forced
to take a break of an hour and 2 of a half hour during the day, because I could
no longer resist, in addition to the 3 hour break that I got into the habit of
taking on this contest.
To achieve my goal, I decided to focus on hunting for multipliers and 3-points
QSOs. When you are in the assisted low power category, the rate is often better
in S&P --> thanks to the skimmers.
The S&P represents about 90% of the QSOs in my log on the high bands and 30%
on the low bands
80 m was a little noisy and it's the first time that I contacted so few US
states during this contest.
40 m was quite productive. I was afraid to find very few DX stations on this
network because of the better openings on the high bands but ultimately I was
quite surprised by the North American activity and by the reports whatever the
part of the world (that said, some seem particularly deaf...).
20 m I was hoping for an excellent propagation with the American continent all
the 2nd night as often lately but this was not the case (ultimately rather good
because otherwise I would have had difficulty managing my rest).
15 m the money band
10 m very good propagation, like in the old days...
For the first time, I managed to cross the threshold of 100 DXCCs worked on 2
bands during an RTTY contest. It was quite easy to work many European countries
via backscatter on the high bands ; sometimes I had to wait until the wall of US
stations was calmer and come back later.
My goal is achieved (statistics below).
And finally, 3 hours of sleep after the contest and back to the harvest for at
least 8 days again.
