Comments:

The contest had been going for four hours before I started, because I cut the
grass, cleaned up, and took a nap before starting. I also took a 40-minute break
when supper was called. My BIC time was reported as 7:19 hours. I did stay the
duration until the end. I did watch the Online Scoreboard and it kept me
motivated. When I first looked John (N3MN) and Ken (K4XL) were well into the
scoring. I think Pete (W4WWQ ) had about 50 or so. The surprise was to see
Knight (NJ4Q) on the board and this was a phone contest. I notice that Knight's
score was not moving. His voice must have quit. I know his microphone was in
good shape, because it does not get used. I had started setting up the voicing
but never finished it. It did not take long to see that was a mistake and my
voice would lock up at times. After supper, I noticed that Jerry (W1IE) was on
the board with over a hundred. Where did that come from? After a while, I
noticed that Jerry had stopped. I finally got within range of Pete. To my
surprise, Ken quit and Pete and I passed him. John was on fire - no catching
him. Down to the wire, and I passed Pete in QSOs, but he had me in multipliers,
so his scored was higher by contestonlinescore.com. I checked 160-meter one
time. I heard nothing and there were no spots, so that band was dead to me. If
I could have made a few there, things might have been better. Looking back, I
didn't work Pete, but heard him several times. I worked John on 20-meters on
the backside of the beam. He had to ask for a repeat. I was tired in the end
and had a rough voice the next day. I'll do it again.
