Comments:
I was informed by the FCC that my 2X1 was approved an hour before the contest.
I had to scramble to get some things ready and changed over, but I was able to
start about 30 minutes into the contest.
It was really frightening to hear myself not using N1DID as it felt as if I was
doing field day. Still I got into a groove and a few hours in realized that
"if you just use the recorded call you will get it right". By
Saturday afternoon I was completely into it.
The contest really was amazing but it really underscored how much I need to get
my towers up and improve my vertical. The pieces are all in place, and I just
need to break ground and buy the rotators. Hopefully by autumn.
One note - I made a very nice contact with Croatia on 160 just before I went to
bed. Unfortunately it was the only station that was really workable.
