I thought activity was down, it was not difficult to find and hold a frequency
even with low power. To my surprise, my NE beverage had S9 static through the
entire contest, it had not been there previously and I suspect it was an after
effect of an Ice storm we had mid week. Needless to say Europe was a bust.
Sounds like I didn't miss all that much when even the big guns struggled into
Europe. West coast was lacking as well, only a couple of 7's the first night.
The 2nd night was better, 4 more western states plus VE5 & 6. KH6AQ was LOUD
both nights, probably could have worked with QRP. Anyway, it was fun but
frustrating, better luck next time.
