Comments:

A brutal experience as line noise here has progressively gotten worse and now is
just awful. Need to suck it in and get out with my noise-sniffer gear and locate
the sources on the PEC lines here. This is a requirement every so often and I
have put if off while the noise has gone from a 10% to a 100% of the time
problem. My apologies to those who called and I just was deaf below a certain
level. I feel guilty and frustrated that I have let this thing reach this level.

Never heard a single EU station but was (a) semi-deaf and (b) not on during peak
W5-EU times. Somehow JA5DQH managed to get through, probably since I am familiar
with his call and after the JA5 prefix and a "D" I sort of plugged in
my failing memory and dredged out the rest. It was him. Thanks! KH6LC was loud.
All in all, the usual frustrating and exhilarating experience on Top Band.

Station: K4 and old Alpha 87A beast at about 1200W to a shunt fed 90 foot tower
vertical with two radials on a limestone hilltop (terrible ground) with an
SAL-30 receiving array located about 300 yards away down a hillside near a
creek. Totally deaf w/out the receiving array... only partially with it, and
only to some directions. Again, my apologies.

Finally nabbed W1SJ on one call early Sunday morning for the VT mult after
calling many times Saturday night. All in all, a lot of fun in spite of to my
frustrations. Will get on the problem.

Thanks to all.
Jim N3BB near Austin, TX
