Comments:
This special contest gave me a lot of trouble this year because the night before
I slept very badly. I had the resolution to stay on the radio for the whole
contest, because last year I went to sleep for 4 hours and it cost me the first
place (by a few QSOs). Unfortunately, I fell asleep already on Saturday
afternoon and in the end I "had" to take two short breaks during the
night. The first 5 hours of the contest were exciting due to the widely opened
high bands - despite the small participation not comparable to the big contests
and 100W. For most of the rest of the race, it was more of a struggle and
"endurance" participation. I was much motivated by watching Tibi OM3RM
on the Online Scoreboard. The total number of QSOs was significantly lower than
in previous years - mainly due to the absence of Russian/Belarusian stations and
only about 5 Ukrainians.
I tried a new beam for 40m (Moxon) - so far only in fixed direction. In the
final I will have two independent beams on 40m, which should help me to be
"faster" on this band and better cover distant DX (it will be 10m
higher than the current 3-el).
