To be competitive in this one requires a lightning-fast start--the first 2-3
hours are critical. That didn't happen here. Lots of unanswered CQs. Sigh. So, I
knew I was in for a long, slow struggle for the remaining 21 hours. Nothing for
it but to accept my fate & work hard as I could to get what I could for the
effort expended. Chuck's station worked flawlessly, so any score shortcomings
accrue exclusively to the operator.
I will confess that there were times on Sunday afternoon when I was hoping I
would just survive this! I don't recall mere survival as an issue when I sat
down to my first serious SS exactly 50 years ago--I would've said, "Hey,
let's go another 24!" Umm, not so much now. That's OK, it's been a
fun-filled half-century ride.
Hoping everyone had the maximum enjoyment & satisfaction for their efforts,
big or small...
