Comments:
First stew from New Mexico location. Earlier in week, with help from a buddy,
installed the 160 vertical. Its made from a Rohn 43' push up mast with about 30'
of aluminum attached at the top. Only 30 radials laid down so far. Fed with a
4:1 unun. Native swr is around 3:1 but a tentec tuner easily brings it down to
1:1 and isn't touchy.
Overall I found one of these to be true: conditions were poor or, this station
was poor! Hoping it was conditions :)
This location is in the high dessert east of Albuquerque and 10 miles south of
I40. Seems pretty quiet rf-wise. Does get a bit windy (forecast gusts for later
this week are 44 mph) which will be a challenge.
Overall pleased with performance of the antenna. Heard several east coast guys
and worked most even though they were likely listening towards EU. No DX heard
here.
