Comments:

The plan was to operate WP3C/NP4DX as M/S LP as usual and try and get WW #1
again, however, the week before the contest Hurricane Fiona struck Puerto Rico,
knocking power out to all customers and causing damage to the station and island
wide, as well as many other radio operators in PR. With power still out over a
week later, we still yet to know the extent of the damage to the station since
Al is in TX and I am in San Juan since we cant test the antennas without power!

Al, WP3C, talked with Jim, WP3A, to lend us his KP2B station in the USVI for the
contest. Luckily, all the equipment is FLEX and very similar to Al's station
thus making it quite easy logistically to operate. Mid-week with the power still
out in PR, we made the change to operate KP2B in the contest. Luckily the storm
passed St. Croix and the USVI and no damage as a result, thus the ability to
operate Jim's station. The conditions were fantastic and I was surprised on how
many YB stations and loud they were on 10M in the morning!

Thanks to Jim for the use of his station, as well as all the calls that were
received. Almost half the population received power back in PR by the end of the
weekend today, but rolling blackouts and lack of consistent power makes it tough
to operate in person and remote too! The pile-ups for KP4 contesters this
weekend seem like they were signing KP1/KP5 with the pileups they had in the
contest. Let's see once the power comes back on and the testing of the antennas
on what the rest of the contest season looks like for WP3C/NP4DX.

Thanks for all those that post their scores on the contest scoreboard, it is
great to track and follow along. Unfortunately, in my apartment (in PR), the
power went out, as well as moving my remote operation 3x before the contest, our
submittal to the scoreboard was off and on, but pretty much on for most of the
contest, except a few hours at the beginning and the end.

73s and see you next contest.

-Paul / WP3TT
