Comments:

Conditions were very noisy, with lots of strong static crashes, and lots of fast
QSB as well, that made it hard to pick out calls and exchanges. Further
handicapped by a very low to ground (17' apex)160 dipole, half wire, half gutter
system. Lots of repeats given on my grid. Some probably due to conditions and my
weak signal, and some due to my new grid not matching "pre-fills".
I set an aggressive goal of 300 Qs before the start of the contest. I felt it
could have been achievable after logging 350 Qs in the ARRL 160. Not meant to
be. Thanks to Jim, KE0L for keeping me in the chair to duke it out between the
two of us. I was always about 20 or so Qs ahead of Jim when he reported his
stats. You closed the gap on me when I failed to get up at sunrise, to catch the
breakfast club! Got you on Qs but your Qrp points bonus kicked my butt. I think
we were pretty close on ERP with Jim's Qrp to an inverted L with radials, and me
with 100 watts to a soil warming and soffit warming radiator! It was fun, Jim.
Longest distance worked was PJ2T. Heard him all night long, and tried several
times to work him along the way. The band finally quieted done enough just
before 2am local for us to make a Q. He was S9 plus here at the time, but he
still struggled to get my exchange.
Heard some EU DX working east coast guys. They were not very strong, but I was
surprised to hear some on this antenna.
Always a good time in this contest. Look forward to it every year. I will have
an inverted L up by next years 160 season.
Six TCG in the log here. All big signals. Thanks for the Qs and patience with my
weak signal.
