Comments:

Originally planned to operate only Sunday, but family plans changed so I only
had an hour or so on Friday night and the first half of Saturday, the worst part
of the contest for a little pistol station. Propagation seemed terrible, with
few workable signals to be found. Nearly all signals beyond zone 3 or outside
the US were extremely fluttery with severe fade Friday night on 40 meters
(vertical) and on Saturday on 20 meters (vertical 2-element yagi) and 15 meters
(inverted vee dipole). The 2-element 20 meters Yagi pointed north made of two
elevated quarter-wave verticals worked great for VE7 stations (a full 2 S units
of S/N better in receive than the single vertical alone) but not nearly well
enough to work into Europe. Felt like I was QRP despite running a full 99W on
all bands.
