Comments:

ICOM IC-706MkIIG, Ameritron AL-80B amplifier, 500 Watts output;
40m dipole up 3.5m (12'); Cushcraft R8 Vertical up 3.8m (12.5');
Two band operation, except for 2 QSOs on 80m with low power and high SWR 80m
inverted vee.

Decided to play on 40m and 10m. Conditions much better than expected and while
a struggle with my low dipole on 40m, the results were surprisingly good. As
always, propagation is everything.

Enjoyed working far away places, including the special calls from Australia and
the great signals from VK and ZL.

Hoping to have more antennas up in the air at some point.

I was one of the VP5T operators, primarily on 40m and 15m, during the CQ WW DX
SSB Contests from 1996-2014 (minus 2004). It sure is a different experience
from the USA with modest antennas (and none on some bands).

Thanks for the QSOs. It was fun.

73, Frank WA2VYA
