Last weekend I removed a diseased plum tree in my backyard. This weekend spent
most of my time clearing up - not having a chipper I had to cut to size and
bundle all the remnants, and put them out at the curb for yard waste pick-up. A
lot of work, probably more than reducing the tree to a stump last weekend.
This left only a very limited time for the radio. The goal was to beat last
year's score. Managed to do it - just barely.
With my 80/40 vertical, on 15 meters I heard the grand total of 3 Europeans and
worked 1. Didn't even try 10 meters. On other bands worked whom I could, when I
could.
The real disappointment and frustration was a fellow with a full size 40 meters
3 element yagi who ignored me despite my multiple repeated attempts (in reality
refused to work me) after I didn't pick up his exchange the first time he gave
it. I too have a large and fragile ego, but this was beyond the edge of the
Galaxy.
