Initially it should have been ES5TV working this weekend, but due to work
commitments, he yet again trusted me to operate. Compared to the last weekend
"agony" (read here -
https://3830scores.com/showrumor.php?arg=ppa3zUqqygafn), this one was like it
should have been all along. Superb job from ES5QA and ES5TV, who managed to
detect and remove all the strange "happenings". ES5QA was the man on a
mission, while ES5TV guided him remotely. Station worked flawlessly throughout
the contest. I was missing only decent propagation.
Like some 3 to 4 years ago, I never heard any US on 80/40 on the opening night.
I heard Southern EU working plenty of US but not a single beep here. Ended up
having only a few US on 80 compared to hundreds of US stations worked by others
down south. It clearly shows on low total points number. Saturday morning was
getting much better and early morning 15m opening to Asia provided me loads of
JA/BY/YB callers. Saturday afternoon wasn't too good either and there was never
really a good opening to US. Sunday afternoon on the other hand was perfect and
US called in for hours. Had to change my strategy a lot and took several 1 hour
breaks as soon as the bands dropped. So basically I slept a bit on the first
night but every other break was just 1 hour break.
I also heard stations on 10 meter but never felt like going there.
"Loved" those S9C spots giving me a solid 100+ dupes to work.
Fortunately they promised more sunspots and better propagation in near future,
so perhaps then it is possible to aim higher.
