Comments:

My goal this weekend was to have fun and continue my migration to N1MM SO2R. I
decided I didn't want the double pressure of a hard core effort along with the
stresses of my learning curve. So I generally followed the rates, but played on
the bands I wanted to, and got the rest I needed. My wife came out and enjoyed
the lake while I stared at a screen. She's wonderfully accepting of my hobby
but laughs that I go to all these beautiful places -- to do data entry!

Kudos to the N1MM team for all their efforts. It really shows. There are so
many "hidden" features that I keep discovering. And the ergonomics of
the SO2R interface are really great. I don't quite have the muscle memory that
I had with TR-LOG, but it's getting there.

Can you believe the solar flux was 115?! This weekend there was no meters like
FIFTEEN meters - what a great ride! Have you made plans to do the 10M
contest?!

The new 160 sloper (center fed, 150') worked very well, but I only had a NE
pennant for receive, which was just okay. I hope to have a couple beverages up
by next weekends 160 contest.

I'm breaking in one of NN1C's SO2R Mini boxes and it's working well, now that
I'm using their recommended virtual serial port software. It doesn't have a
speaker, and I need paddle-only sidetone so I used a K1EL WKUSB for CW instead.
No technical issues this weekend - so all blame goes to the operator. :-) The
antennas are so good and the quiet rural location can't be beat. Thanks as
always to W5KFT for the use of the station. This is my 20th year operating
here, and I'm still amazed. Kudos to K5TR for the great design and build -- and
for all the coaching over the years.
