With the contest van in the shop this week, I wasn't able to go hilltopping to
give a serious effort. So I spent the afternoon assembling a temporary home
station by building a 4-stack omni and wiring up a 50w transceiver--no
amplifier, no preamp, no tower, no computer. Worked one station each hour. Best
DX heard to the northeast was K1WHS FN43 (247 mi / 397 km), to the south was
KO4YC FM17 (338 mi / 544 km), to the west was VE3FHM FN03 (223 mi / 358 km).
