I did this one Field Day style from a sandbar island on the Wisconsin River
using a Hustler 6-band trap vertical with radials buried in the wet sand as I
did last year and managed a slightly better score despite the poor conditions.
Nothing was heard on 10 or 15, 20 closed down early, and 80 was impossibly
noisy, and so most of the action was on 40. At 4 am on Sunday a thunderstorm
passed through with heavy rain, lightning, and high winds. I'm still drying out
the equipment. It was quite the adventure.
