Comments:

Antenna: 4el homebrew 6m Yagi at 19ft/6m
6m SSB: Icom IC-7300 (80 watts)
2m SSB: Yaesu FT-450D + 2m transverter (~5-10 watts)
2m/70cm FM: Yaesu HT (5 watts; no QSOs)
At home in DM34sm in AZ

I pretty much maxed out the height I can put up this temporary antenna and
combined with my new 2m transverter, I was more than ready for Saturday.
Unfortunately, an average of 0.6 QSOs per hour is not very fun. A short, weak
opening to Texas yielded the only Es QSO, and I didn't put much effort into
local contacts given local geography/population and my preference for
ionospheric propagation.

Fortunately, Es slowly worked its way westward on Sunday morning and starting at
1445UT (7:45am local) I was able to work a decent number of EM grids, and one DL
grid in Mexico. One of the EM grids was in North Carolina, for a nice bit of
1700+ mile double-hop. After a lull, there was a pretty decent double-hop
opening up to the New England states; it's always great to hear
"Fox-Nancy" on 6m! The band died by 2000UT and never came back.
