Comments:

Bands were strange this year. 80M was the most productive band at all hours of
the day, while 40M, usually the bread and butter band, was too long most of the
time. The bugaboo of the 40M "this is my net frequency" crowd is
perennial, and this year was no exception. Minute 13 of the QSO party, after
asking whether the frequency was in use 4 times, I was told after the first CQ
that I was on the frequency of a Net which was about to start (aren't they
always)? Spinning the dial is the right thing to do, especially when
representing our club effort, and I did so. But, it feels like capitulation to
misguided Hams who think we all will defer to their daily yakfest just because
they always used that frequency. This is a problem that needs more attention
on 40 and 75.

I had a lot of QSO's with stations in Ohio, PA, and NC, all of whom seem to
play every year in this QSO party. There were of course many others from other
states, but those three were the most common. I really appreciate all the
contacts from out-of-state Amateurs and the efforts of the mobiles, who
activated so many interesting counties, especially KJ4AOP, K1RA, KG3V, KJ4EOO,
N4YXW, AB4YK who do this more or less routinely.

My most surprising contact came from ZD8KFC who called me on 20M and offered me
his 001. Certainly is nice to have a nice DX multiplier call you.

Thanks also to SPARC for running such a good contest. It's well-run enjoyable
every single year.
