Was looking to compete in m/s but was short on available ops so decided to do SO
unassisted hp SSB.
Used the home made 6ele yagi @ 20m agl and a kt34a at 10m agl as a switchable
second direction, acom 1000, k3 and wintest.
saturday morning was slow with the band begining to open around 6.30am but
working vk within the first 10 qso, there just didnt seem to be the volume of
workable europeans and no ja that i could find although malasia, china were
very loud, just after midday the prop switched to the us and some good long
runs wee built up with the band closing around 7pm with just over 800 q's
sunday was even slower and the band opening was about an hour later with slow
running and s&p operation i found ja workable but te morning was very slow,
into just after lunch the prop switched and the us was strong again with steady
runs but long periods of very weak signals making it hard going, band closed at
17.30 again short of saturday, total just over 1k q's and short of the 1.2k
target i had set myself.
everything worked flawless and we had a number of good comments on the great
audio and very strong signal, which is nice to hear after some of the poor over
driven and highly compressed audio i was recieving.
