K3, KPA500, G5RV - 400W on 10, 20 and 40, 100W on 15 & 80.
I am not a phone contester - before this weekend I had never entered an SSB
contest, and in this one weekend I made almost twice as many SSB QSOs as I had
before then in my 34 years as an amateur - but I thought I should do my bit to
help put ONE on the air. I can't say that the experience has changed my mind
about phone contesting in general, but it certainly was gratifying to be told 7
times that the QSO with me had just completed a sweep for the other station, and
countless other times that the QSO gave the other station a new multiplier.
Unfortunately, I missed the sweep by one myself (NT). It was not for want of
trying, but I was not able to break the pileup on VY1EI on 15m.
