Comments:

There must have been a full moon this wseekend, as lining up operators was
really, really hard. In the end, K3ZJ and N8HM did the heavy lifting, while I
was able to fill in some of the gaps between family events. These two new
additions to Team DC (a group of disenfranchised contesters most of whom live
in condos or apartments)were enthusiasic and energetic. Like getting on a
bicycle after not riding for a long time, Dave, K3ZJ, picked up from where he
left off all too many years ago. And Paul, N8HM, gets more confident and better
and better. Operating from a small, noisy urban lot with "eh" antennas is a good
testing and training ground!

Friday night was very slow and very noisy. When you hear the big multi-multis
S&P'ing, you know conditions are rough. The new SAF feature and RX366 sub
receiever on the Orion made a world of difference pulling out the weak ones.

Saturday was much better. Good openings to Europe, although runs were hard to
sustain, not usually a problem from this rare mult, where call recognition
comes in handy.

40 meters is the real achiiles heel from a small lot where the trees aren't
quite where they need to be, either on the property line (or in my neighbors'
yards), or above tfe roof.

Regardless, it's always fun to particiapte, be it in the chair or hosting,
which affords me a great opportunity to learn about station ergonomics,
propogation, overall operationg and the eating habits of contesters

See you in the next one!
