Comments:
Fun time when I was in the chair this weekend. I will officially enter the No
Towers, No Beams, Suburban Yard, Three Kids Under Five category, and hopefully
I will get a certificate for this entry....
I operated probably 5 hours in all with the one month old boy asleep in my lap.
One hand had to hold onto him, since he refuses to sleep unless he's lying on
his side, so that sort of limited me, but I got pretty good at calling CQ,
entering the call, etc., with just my left hand.
I wasn't on 160 much, but did manage to get two new band countries, with YS and
K5D, who I worked on phone while I went up the band.
On 80, my good antenna setup has gone bad. I have a lot of work to do there.
Not sure what the problem is, but things stunk for me again.
On 40 meters, people actually heard me in Europe, which was a switch. Best
QSO's were definitely T27A for a new one and I worked a few JA's which is
always cool from the East Coast.
I was able to run Europe on 20 with my measly dipole, which allowed me to find
a few stations in the second layer. Lots of ESP contacts it seemed like. I
managed to find EL2DX, so that was nice.
Someone actually answered me in Europe when I CQ'd on 15 meters, so there must
be some hope for Cycle 24 if it ever gets here...
10 meters? I think they moved that to the 6 meter band last I heard.
