Comments:

This contest proved that even a rover needs a good rover!

Thanks to John, N6MU, for being this rover's rover, accompanying
us through 16 grid squares (and driving 1,300 miles).

The contest high point: reaching grid #16, CN90, 10 minutes
before the end of the contest. Thanks to Rob Hughes, an
experienced sports car rally driver who made my rover van
do amazing things, and to John for having the guts to follow
Rob on dirt trails and winding mountain roads.

The low point: having the planned second rover vehicle lose
its transmission the night before the contest. Starting at
9 p.m., we installed an antenna platform and a 10-band operating
console in John's Suzuki Sidekick. At 1 a.m., we went on a
mini-roving expedition to test everything (it worked).

Thanks also to Steve and Sandy of DEM and Dave of Directive
Systems for helping us get up and running on the microwave
bands.

73,
Wayne, N6NB
