Comments:

After having operated the previous ten Sweepstakes from
my home QTH (100watts+vertical) I had the opportunity
this weekend to operate from N6TV's station. What a
difference! In recent years, I literally would go four
hours or more at the start of the contest without calling
CQ once - because I knew it would just slow me down.
I completely turned it around this time. Saturday evening
I held the same frequency on 40 meters for nearly four
hours. I found it quite relaxing just sitting back and
calling CQ throughout most of the contest. I only went
after one section. For most of the second day, all I
needed was PAC and NWT. So I turned Bob's antennas
around toward PAC, tuned the band for loud signals, and
bingo! By about 4:30 on Sunday evening I still had no NWT.
I was calling CQ on 20 when I heard a loud pounding on
the front door. It was an irate neighbor complaining about
TVI (yes, I was running low power). I chatted with him
for about 15 minutes, calmed him down, then went back
to the same 20 meter frequency and resumed calling CQ.
The first station that came back to me was VY1JA,
providing me with my first SS sweep ever (my first SS
was in 1964).

Moral of the story: keep participating in the SS every
year and one of those years is bound to be lucky!
(Of course, a great station helps too!)
