YES, CONDX WERE BAD!
Like in phone contest Nick (UN4L) gave it a try on
80m QRP World record and I (UN1LT) went after
SOAB High power zone 17 record. Nick has a big
station with lots of good antennas. He was using
a phased 2 element GP array and I was using a
phased 2el inv.v. antenna when on 80m. The antennas
are only 200m appart and its easy to imagine what it
was like at Nick,s RX when I was showing up on 80m
with solid 1 kW signal. I must say that Nick is
helluva friend and he silently bore all the QRM
from me on 80m. Big "thank you" to you Nick!
Inspite of the CONDX and QRM Nick got pretty close
to breaking the record. Its amazing what good op.
at a good stn. can do with 5 Watts!
