Soapbox: Boy, did they turn the 10M tap on or what. First every 1K Q count,
first ever 1.2K Q
count, best effort ever from my station and single op/single band effort to
boot. Realy did not
need the 200 watts, if the band was open, you could work it.

I had 2 hours at 150+ Q rate, 2 hours at 125+ Q rate and 3 hours at 100+ Q
rate. Rate meter hit
280 an hour a few times. Its not often a 200 watt signal will hold a frequency
for 3 hours at a
shot, especially in VE5 land. Helps that 10M is so roomy, leaving lots of
space for those who
want to CQ.

Conditions within North American were very good. Phone rate were so good I
often forgot to go
to CW. In Saskatchewan the band was gone by 01:30z to 02:00z and did not open
again until
15:00z on both days. That limited operation to about 20 quality hours.
Openings to JA, Pacfic
and VK were short and ranged from strong to weak depending on the distance.
The EU openings
were again fairly short and not too deep with primarily the costal areas (G,
EI, F) being all I
could hear. Pointed the beam to the NE and worked lots or east coast USA off
the side of the
beam. Nothing from Africa. The Caribian and SA were present, but again only
when the band went
long late in the day (~ 21:00z+) or our mid morning (15:00-17:00z).

Kenwood 440SAT, KT34A @ 50', SB220 in standby mode most of the time.
