WRTC Resume For

WA1S

Ann M. Santos, WA1S - First licensed at the age of 18 in 1979 as KA1DNB. Upgraded to Extra in 1980. Changed call to WA1S in 1989. Began contesting in the mid 80's as part of a M/M at K1NG in Rhode Island. Limited contesting from home in the 80's (Yaesu FT101ZD, Kenwood TS940S and only a Butternut Vertical antenna). Moved to New Hampshire in 1992 - M/M efforts included K1KP and K1RX. Member of the Yankee Clipper Contest Club. Home station in NH consists of a Yaesu FT1000D, Kenwood TS570G, TH7DXX at 31 meters, G5RV Senior Inverted Vee at 25 meters, Cushcraft D3W (WARC) at 17 meters. Enjoy contesting, CW, DX'ing and DXpeditions. First YL in history (1997) to will major category in a CQWW contest. All SOLP efforts have been from home station in NH.

Active as part of a M/M from K1RX in ARRL DX CW and SSB contests 1997-2001. Only operated part time as WA1S SOLP in CQ WPX CW 1998, CQWW WPX SSB/CW 1999 and recently in CQWW WPX SSB 2001 did a modest effort SOLP with a score of 2,466,504. Other contests have included ARRL SS (ARRL SS CW 1997 SOLP - 1st - New England Division) and RI and NH state QSO parties.

DXpedition accomplishments:

1996 - J38AA (J39A CQWW CW), 1997 - VK9WY (Willis Island), 1998 - V63HO (V63X CQWW CW), 1999 - J3/WA1S (J3A CQWW CW), 2000 - KH5/WA1S, T32R, K5K (Kingman Reef), and J38AA (J3A CQWW CW).
