WRTC Resume For

Contesting Resume for N0AX

Greetings - thanks for checking out my "resume"! The purpose is, of course, to convince you that I am worthy of your nomination as a Team Captain for WRTC-2002. Let's jump right to it!

Why would I be a great nominee for your club?

- National leader in low-power/QRP contesting - the WRTC format
- Top-notch CW operator - experienced and competent phone op, too
- Great team player - flexible, innovative, strategic, funny
- Technically savvy - computers, radios, antennas, propagation
- Three WRTC's - once as an organizer, twice as a referee
- Can I go if selected? FOR SURE - WRTC-2002 or BUST!!

And one more good reason...

- Good Radiosport Citizen - I pledge to conduct myself honorably according to the event rules, the terms of my license, and most importantly, as a good sportsman in every sense of the word. A fine representative for your club and ambassador for the United States contest community.

Because winning is about numbers, please allow me to present my personal highs in contests representative of the WRTC competitions:

NA Sprint
12 Top-Ten finishes in CW Low-Power since LP was noted
#2 all-time high CW Low-Power score
Current record holder for CW W7 Low-Power
ARRL Sweepstakes
7 consecutive Top-Ten finishes in CW QRP
Current record holder for NW Division CW QRP
NAQP
Current CW record holder for WA
ARRL DX
Current record holder for W7 QRP CW
ARRL 10-Meters
World High CW QRP - 1990, record stood until 1999

These records were acheived from a modest station (except 2000 SS score from K7RI) with no antennas higher than 55' and from a latitude above the northern tip of Maine. This is very similar to what the operating conditions will be like from southern OH in July of 2002.

I have operated from KH6, breaking a record each time:

ARRL DX M/S - 1993 CW (NH6T) - Oceania record
K7SS and I nearly doubled the old record with 5000 QSOs, finishing a close second to P40V - 2000 miles closer to the US. The record still stands.
CQ WW SOLP (NH6T) - 1994 CW - 4th World - Oceania record
This record stood until H44MX (K1XM) broke it in 1999.
ARRL DX SOAB LP - 1995 CW (KH6RS) - Oceania record
This is also a current record.

In recent multi-ops, I have also contributed in a big way:

W7RM - CQ WW CW 1997 - 2000, 15 or 20-meter band captain
Our team is the current Zone 3 record holder (1999)
K3LR - ARRL DX CW 2001
2nd place 15-meter single-band finish (with K3UA and N3SD)

If selected as a Team Captain, I will select the top available operator from a similar background and with a stronger emphasis on phone to complete a balanced team capable of challenging the field for the #1 finishing position. During the 2001-2002 contest season, I am committed to honing my skills in Low-Power categories and working with my teammate so that we are ready for WRTC-2002.

In summary, I hope you will agree that I have what it takes to be competitive. I know the format well and have a lifetime of experience operating under conditions very similar to those expected for WRTC-2002.

Thanks for your consideration - I will make your club proud to have nominated me as a Team Captain.

73, Ward N0AX
