WRTC Resume For

K4BAI

Participant in WRTC 1996 in San Francisco and teamed with W4AN placed second. Participant in WRTC 2000 in Slovenia and teamed with K6LL and placed 34th.

Active ham and contester since 1954. Have placed in the top ten in ARRL SS (both CW and SSB in the 1970s) and in the top ten for the past three years as guest op at W4AN. Highest finish was #4 in 1999.

Have won for North America in CQ WW CW DX Contests many times single op from 4V2C (1985) (Haiti) and 8P9HT/8P9Z 1987 through 2000. Holder of single op NA continental record for this contest from 1998.

Have placed high nationally in many contests including NA Sprints CW, but highest scores there were made in the 1980s when home station was more competitive.

Often have participated in winning or very competitive M/S and M/M efforts from W4AN, W8JI (CQ 160 CW 1999 and 2001), NQ4I, N4RJ, N4PN, K4VHC, W4KXV (CQDXCW 1966) and K3KG. Contest DXpeditions multi op include for CQWW CW: TG0AA (1967), PJ0CW (1969), PJ0FC (1970), PJ9JT (197?), PJ2CC (1979), P41E (Curacao, 1981), P42E (Curacao, 1982), HH2VP (1983), and J77J (1994). CQ WW SSB M/M operations: VP7BL (1971) and PJ9GIW (1973). Operated as PJ2CC single op 20M in CQWW CW in 1980. Came in second to N4PN at VP2KAC (from the VP2KC station).

I was single op in many contests from Korea in 1978-69 as HL9KQ and was at a M/S entry for CQ WW CW and SSB at HL9US.

Also licensed as 8P9HT on Barbados. QSL Manager over many years for 8P9HR, 8P9Z, EL2T, SV0BK, S92ST, 8P9HS, 8P9EG, and maybe a few others.

Formerly licensed as K4BAI/PJ2, K4BAI/HH2, and J79AA. Operated as S5/K4BAI. Ran Georgia QSO Pty for years. Have operated competively in many contests on CW, SSB, QRP, 6 meters.and mobile. Always enjoy contesting and try to support contest activity wherever it can be found.

Won CW copying competition at several Atlanta hamfests in 1960s. Won CW pileup competition at ARRL National Convention in Houston in 1983 and several times both CW and SSB at Atlanta hamfests.

Active member and former president, South East Contest Club. Active member SEDXC. Former member Dixie DXers Contest Club. Former member Florida DX Club.

Married for over 26 years with two grown children. Work as U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge. Was a civil trial lawyer prior to that. Also a U.S. Army JAGC lawyer for 4 years.
Graduated from undergraduate school and law school (magna cum laude) at Mercer University, Macon, GA.
Father is K4VGI, who was licensed about 3 years after I was.

Have been active in Columbus Amateur Radio Club, Inc. (W4CVY-W4FIZ) since it was formed in 1956. Have been active in public service, including weather nets and providing communications during hurricane and tornado emergencies. Have received several Public Service Awards from ARRL. Have been active in several areas of the ARRL National Traffic System since 1955. Still active on local section CW traffic net (GSN). Manager of GSN and bulletin editor for several years. Former NCS of 4RN and EAN (Eastern Area Net) (1959-60).

All QSLs answered by return mail, with or without return postage. Also help with QSLing for contest operations from multi op stations.

Holder of DXCC (Honor Roll) (formerly Top of Honor Roll), (now need P5 and BS7), WAZ, WPX, etc awards. Have confirmed, but not applied for, 5B DXCC, 5B WAS, and VUCC.

Active on all bands 160 through 6 M, CW and SSB, including WARC bands and 2M FM. Will soon be QRV on 2M SSB and CW.

Member: FOC CW Ops club, FISTS, 10-X, QCWA, and OOTC. Charter Life Member ARRL. Former Asst SCM, RM, OBS, OO, Asst Dir. Still ORS (for 45+ years). Also member of state wide SSB traffic nets and clubs.

Have participated in FD since 1955 except for the year I was in Korea. Have participated in class 2C from a sailboat and with an all QRP entry from W4UCJ.

Present modest station: FT1000MP, AL811H, TH6DXX, and wires. Back up: IC736 and SB220. Have not done SO2R from home, but have done it for three years in ARRL SS CW from W4AN and also in one NAQP.

Have entered many contests, CW, SSB, and mixed, single band and multi band. Really love the multiband single op categories, the more hours the better. Usually enter mixed modes in contests such as ARRL 10M.

Have participated in contest forums at ARRL National Convention in Houston in 1983 and many times at various Atlanta conventions.
