COFFEE & Gatorade
|
Coffee to keep me awake and Gatorade to keep me hydrated. If I eat anything I might as well turn the rig off and go to bed.

Water Please
|
Water durring a contest to stop the cotton mouth is a must. After calling CQ atleast over 500 times or more then you need it. After all it makes you look more prestgious like George Bush, David Letterman, or like some famous contestor. (It also helps you stop the continuing cycle of beer and pretzles, pretzles and beer. HeeHee!)
See you all at Dayton.

Red Bull & Yogurt
|
I use to drink Red Bull (caffeine energy drink) during contests. But for me it's important to start drinking it before I get tired. For eating I'm usually "drinking" fruit yogurts. They are tasty, kill your hunger and you don't have to bite anything, which is a big advantage during phone contests. - Toby DH1TW

Protein Bars & Crystal Light
|
As part of my Atkins dieting, I've started to keep some of the new low-carb, high-protein bars around. They're expensive, but you can get them at Sam's club reasonably priced. They have no sugar and really stop an appetite. Crystal Light drinks are very tasty, have no sugar or caffiene. Crystal Light is very popular at V26B operations.

COFFEE & Trail Mix
|
Coffee or coke pick-me-ups for drinks and a nut-filled trail mix to keep down the mess (desk is cluttered enough)something with high fibre and protein without the need to stop and eat a meal!

I think coffee, tea or any products with coffeine or similar compound with same effect is not good for use during the contest.
My experiences;
- every coffeine product helps you in 1st few hours when you drink it, but after few hours you are even more tired ( back effect ).
- if you drink drinks with coffeine you will be going to WC more often!
- if you drink such drinks during the night and then go to sleep (if you are operating 80m) you will wake up like you are having the biggest tiger from alco....
The best are fruit drinks...
My mistake during contests is that when I am tired (usually in the morning ) with low rates hours i eat too much because I am sleppy, but because of that you became even more!

Clif Bars + Gatorade/Water
|
Clif Bars are my principal food when contesting. It is annoying to chew and run stations on SSB, but you get the hang of it eventually :-)

Hard to eat with a headset on

Yes, it's hard to eat with a headset on. Yet another reason to operate CW! 73 Mike

Keeping the mic dry

I like to drink tea... but in the phone tests, the darn Heil headset mic keeps getting in the way!

coffee
|
This station is powered by Hawaiian Electric and Kona Coffee. All the operator needs is great bladder control and the rest happens.

Anything Not Nailed Down!
|
Coffee, Hot Tea, Orange Juice and Iced Tea with lemon. Needed the citrus to keep the voice clear and some caffine to get you eager.
To eat... a large bag of tortilla chips and a jar of picante or salsa you can get at your favorite wholesale club.
If that doesn't fire you up, nothing will.

Soft drink!
|
Nothing quite like a little caffine to keep one sharp while operating and still having a good taste to boot! My vote is for a soft drink. Pepsi, Coke, Dr. Pepper, you name it, as long as it isn't diet.

Food/Beverages
|
Snacking is really tough if you are a phone op. It's tough to chew and run stations. Give me my Coke with a straw in a glass please. (lots of ice) The caffeine does tax one's bladder though. The first ten hours of SS can be a killer

Yogurt
|
The small cups with the fruit on the bottom are great for contest snacking.
They have so much sugar in them that they may not be 'health food', but
they do provide quick tasty energy while operating. And are neat and easy to serve
as well...good eating... Joe W4SAA

Gatorade all the way...
Keeps me hydrated during the contest.
The 20 ounce bottle is great,
you don't have to go get a glass!
