Contesting Online Survey

Survey Question Current Survey Question

Do you plan to enter the CQ WW DX Contest?

Recent Surveys

Recently the RDXC committee reclassified P3F to high power from low power without publicly providing strong evidence that any infraction had occurred. They concluded was that the contestant was running HP on 80/40m but not full-time, just 10 minutes here and there without any convincing evidence. It appears they used the RBN as their source of information. Should the RXDC contest have to publicly provide convincing evidence before reclassifying a station from LP to HP?

Randy, K5ZD, wrote a sidebar titled " Convergence and Change" in the 2015 CQWW CW printed results in CQ magazine. He wrote that the "convergence of personal computers, Internet access, DX clusters, and CW Skimmer have changed the nature of CW contesting". He goes to say that it is "more difficult to police the line between the single operator working alone and those who are using the assistance of DX spotting." In light of this convergence and change is it time to recombine SO and SOA into a single category?

Mailing of contest logs
Usually right away... withing the hour.
I don't believe in 'correcting' any log entry. Even if a typo, I view the whole log as a level of skill. Sure I may have copied it right, but if I typo it, then that is the way it goes in. Sure, I do make a lot of typos and my brain gets fuddled up too.

I do allow myself to correct a typo during the contest... but not afterwards.

Usually late
They sit on my computer until someone sends out a reminder that the submission deadline is days or hours away.

Submission time
Too tired at the end of the contest -- Too busy thereafter. Its usually one to two weekends before I submit, i.e., the next non-contest weekend.

ASAP
I try to send them in as soon as possible. Otherwise I worry that I'll forget. ASAP is usually the next morning.

Mailing of contest logs
My time period varies. Sometimes it's the next day, sometimes right before the deadline. I always like to go through the logs and check my typos. In NAQP for instance, "George" might wind up as "Geroge" and would probably be a busted Q even though I copied it correctly, I typed it wrong. The same is true for calls. "W1ABCNY" is clearly an example of the state being typed in call field in addition to being typed in the section field. Strange things happen in the heat of the battle. Even though YOU know what you meant, the logs checkers don't.
