Recently the RDXC committee reclassified P3F to high power from low power without publicly providing strong evidence that any infraction had occurred. They concluded was that the contestant was running HP on 80/40m but not full-time, just 10 minutes here and there without any convincing evidence. It appears they used the RBN as their source of information. Should the RXDC contest have to publicly provide convincing evidence before reclassifying a station from LP to HP?

Randy, K5ZD, wrote a sidebar titled " Convergence and Change" in the 2015 CQWW CW printed results in CQ magazine. He wrote that the "convergence of personal computers, Internet access, DX clusters, and CW Skimmer have changed the nature of CW contesting". He goes to say that it is "more difficult to police the line between the single operator working alone and those who are using the assistance of DX spotting." In light of this convergence and change is it time to recombine SO and SOA into a single category?

QRQ in Contests

I really admire the guys who can operate at 35+ wpm. But I question their strategy and wisdom when I hear them call "CQ TEST" 20 times in a row without an answer. If I could tell what they were sending, I'd answer. If ANYBODY could tell what they were sending, they would answer too. Guys! Maybe you're s2 here. Maybe you sound like you're under water because you're short path. Maybe my KAM thinks you sound more like G-TOR than CW. Maybe there are a hundred other guys thinking the same thing I am. Hey --- go with 35. But when it goes dry, why flog a dead horse? Instead of sending fruitlessly for 20 minutes at 35, why not try 25 and work some of us "bottom feeders"? Q's are Q's at ANY speed, right?

QRQ on 160?

My pet peeve is the guys on 160 who run 100 watts to a wet noodle and believe they are as strong as you are with 1500 watts to a well-grounded full-sized vertical! I can comfortably copy >60 WPM but not when their signal is below my noise floor!

QRQ Dependes

I can copy 35wpm comfortable, but worse is CW weigh. 20wpm with too long dash and fast dith is hard to copy for me. Byt the way, I always slow down when somebody calls me "QRS". It's a preasure send at comfortable speed to the other part. If he cannot read me, What am I doing so? It's not 2-WAY anymore. 73, Luc - PY8AZT

Go with the flow

Generally my speed goes up and down depending on how many stations are calling. During heated "waves" of exchanges, if you call at the speed you can copy, I will slow down and send at that speed. If you call at MY speed, I will assume you can copy me at any speed. You always have the option to send "QRS" at any point!

It can backfire

I do everything possible to have the guy's entire exchange (call and whatever else is needed) in my head before calling to work anybody, to prevent all the time wasted trying to figure it out later. I imagine it's happened to everyone that we work a DX station and miss some critical piece of data and then waste a lot of time trying to get it, which can include calling the guy a second time and being told we're a dupe -- thus, still missing the data!

QRQ

If you are sending QRQ---receive an answer, send the exchange---then hear "AGN"---if your smart, you'll slow down, complete the "Q" and continue on.

If you answer QRQ and need to send "AGN" and the station won't slow down so you can get the exchange----move on---it's better for both stations.
